After 39 days, countless VAR discussions, questionable kick-off times and approximately 17,000 FIFA marketing slogans, the World Cup 2026 reaches its grand finale today.

Third-Place Match 🥉

Nobody expected this.

What looked like a routine win quickly turned into one of the craziest matches of the entire tournament. England raced into a 4:0 lead, France fought their way back into the game and suddenly defending seemed to be completely optional on both sides.

Ten goals late…

France 2:0 Morocco
France continued their impressive run with a professional victory over Morocco. Mbappé and Dembélé scored within a few minutes of each other to send Les Bleus into the semi-finals.

Spain 2:1 Belgium
A late thriller in Los Angeles! Fabián Ruiz gave Spain the lead, De Ketelaere equalised for Belgium, but once again Mikel Merino became Spain's hero with the winning goal shortly before full time.

Norway 1:2 England (AET)
Haaland and Norway dreamed of another …

The WM 2026 round of 16 is heating up: two more quarter-finalists were decided since Monday evening – and with the USA out, all three co-hosts are gone. Tonight the last two round-of-16 ties will settle the final eight.

Portugal 0:1 Spain (Dallas)
The Iberian derby turned into a patience test – until Mikel Merino struck in stoppage time (91'). Portugal threw everything forward, Spain kept a clean sheet and reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2010. Tipped exactl…

World Cup update: the Round of 16 shows no mercy

A lot has happened since Thursday – and for many tippers it was a weekend to breathe easy. Or not.

Last Round-of-32 ties
Australia 1:1 Egypt – level after 90, Egypt advance on penalties. Tipped 1:1? Four points for the scoreline – nail penalties and Egypt as winner and you can bag all six. Argentina 1:1 Cape Verde (a.e.t. 3:2) – nearly the biggest World Cup shock ever! Messi put the holders ahead early, Cape Verde levelled twic…

World Cup update

Portugal 2:1 Croatia – Emotional night in Toronto: Ronaldo levelled from the spot (68'), Gonçalo Ramos won it in stoppage time (90+4). Gvardiol's apparent equaliser was ruled offside. Tipped 1:1 after 90? Brief hope – the slip reads 2:1.

Switzerland 2:0 Algeria – Embolo and Ndoye did the job. Backed the favourite? Points banked.

Spain 3:0 Austria (Thursday) – Oyarzabal brace, Austria are out.

Tonight: Australia vs Egypt, Argentina vs Cape Verde, Colombi…

World Cup update: the knockouts show no mercy – and this time it's us.

Germany 1:1 Paraguay: level after 90 minutes, then out in extra time. Paraguay march into the Round of 16, Nagelsmann's side fly home – after the 7–1 over Curaçao, the Undav comeback and topping the group, the Round of 32 is the end of the line. Doubly brutal for the tippers: 93% had a German win on their slip, but after 90 it read 1–1. Anyone who tipped that exact draw collects the only consolation point…

Now it's do or die! The group stage is history – from here on it's win or go home. The very first Round of 32 match in World Cup history is already in the books, and tonight things get seriously exciting for our tippers.

The first team in the Round of 16 🍁
Last night in Los Angeles, Canada opened the knockout stage with a 1:0 win over South Africa. It looked headed for extra time, but Stephen Eustáquio struck in stoppage time (90+2) for the winner. The highlight: the celebra…

World Cup update: last group games wrapped, now it's win-or-go-home

The group stage is history – and last night handed out tipping points one more time: Panama 0–2 England – yes, England finally found the net, and after that 0–0 snoozefest against Ghana, they even managed two. Algeria 3–3 Austria, a six-goal spectacle that leaves everyone who tipped a clear winner empty-handed. Argentina take care of business with a 3–1 over Jordan (Messi involved, of course), Croatia edge Gha…

World Cup update: feeling blue – Germany lose but still go through

So much for the streak: Ecuador 2–1 Germany. Sané scored after just 2 minutes – and then came… Ecuador. Angulo equalised straight away (9'), Plata poked in the 2–1 (78') past an unlucky Neuer. After eleven wins in a row, the first defeat – in the blue away kit of all things. But: as group winners they go through anyway, with the Round of 32 on Monday in Boston.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast beat Curaçao 2–0 to grab…

World Cup update: Vini dances, Neymar's back, Qatar's out

While you were sleeping, the World Cup was on fire:

Scotland 0–3 Brazil – a Vinícius brace, Cunha adds another, and Neymar marks his World Cup comeback after two years. Morocco 4–2 Haiti – a late winner in the 89th, both go through alongside Brazil. Switzerland 2–1 Canada – group win for the Nati, while Canada reach the knockouts for the first time despite the defeat.

Also: Bosnia 3–1 sends hosts Qatar home, …

World Cup update: nil-nil, no shots, no fun

A lot has happened since the England game – and it all started with… nothing.

England 0–0 Ghana: 79% possession, Kane off the bar, Kane over the bar, Beckham in the dugout more exciting than the match. A World Cup first: not a single shot on target in one half. Anyone who tipped 1–0 for the Three Lions may want to revisit the scoring.

At least things picked up after that: Croatia scraped through 1–0 against Panama with a Budimir …

World Cup update: lightning & records

Here's what happened since the weekend:

Schlotterbeck played through the first half against Ivory Coast – yesterday came the diagnosis: torn ligament, World Cup over. Nagelsmann can't call up a replacement. Schlotti stays with the squad, just not on the pitch.

Messi passed Klose: 18 World Cup goals, Argentina beat Austria 2–0. Missed penalty first, then broke the record – the man loves plot twists more than Netflix.

Also: France beat …

World Cup weekend: Heroes, hydration breaks, and a 0-0 with consequences

From Saturday to Monday, World Cup 2026 kept handing out tipping points — though sometimes to the wrong people. (Fixed.)

Saturday: Undav does it
Germany were 0-1 down against Ivory Coast. Anyone who had tipped 2-1 looked, in the closing minutes, like someone who'd just won the lottery: Deniz Undav (68', 90+4) turned it all around — and sent the DFB team into the round of 16 early. If you had 1-1 or 0-1…

The World Cup didn't sleep – and neither did we

Since the France spectacle (3:1 against brave Senegal, Mbappé with a brace + record), it's been one thing after another:

Iraq – Norway 1:4
Haaland scores twice, keeper Hassan briefly checks out to another dimension – Norway celebrates its first World Cup win since 1998. Group I is turning into a premium striker outlet.

Argentina – Algeria 3:0
Messi. Messi. Messi.
38 years young, three goals, Klose's record equalled – th…

WM night: favourites share the points

After Spain’s 0–0, the trend continued:

Belgium 1–1 Egypt – Lukaku on, own goal, point shared. Dark-horse mode: still loading.

Saudi Arabia 1–1 Uruguay – Al-Owais on 2022 form, Uruguay stumbling like Spain in Group H.

Iran 2–2 New Zealand – New Zealand twice ahead, Iran twice level. Entertaining. Clear-winner tips: less so.

Bottom line: if you backed the big names, you’re collecting sympathy points, not leaderboard points.

Yesterday was a tipping day to remember: Curaçao briefly thought they were the main character – then Germany rewrote the script with a 7–1 win. Havertz brace, Musiala ice-cold.

Elsewhere: Netherlands 2–2 Japan (picked a clear winner? tough luck), Ivory Coast 1–0 Ecuador in stoppage time (cardiac-arrest mode), Scotland 1–0 Haiti, Australia 2–0 Türkiye, and Sweden 5–1 Tunisia.

Bottom line: if you nailed 7–1, you may gloat today. Everyone else: next round, fresh tips!

Here’s a bit of background on tomorrow’s opponent, Curaçao.

I’m not talking about the Dutch liqueur of the same name, but the island nation that until 2010 was part of the former Netherlands Antilles — with a population roughly between Cheltenham and Reading. But honestly, we’ve seen pretty much everything over the years in these prediction games, so … the toughest opponent is always the next one!!!

The ball is rolling. So is our tipping game.

The 2026 World Cup is officially underway – and what an opening day in Mexico: Mexico 2–0 South Africa at the Azteca (Julian Quiñones scored the tournament’s first goal, Raúl Jiménez sealed it), followed by South Korea 2–1 Czechia with a comeback in Guadalajara. Three red cards in the first match, drama in the second – Group A is already delivering more action than some entire group stages from past tournaments.

And the best part…
